IBIS TV Clever. Not complicated

IBIS, Sony and Omneon demonstrate collaborative workflow at IBC 2008

September 2008, IBC Sony Booth 9.310:  For IBC 2008, Sony will be showcasing the workflow between IBIS iMove and ServerPlay via a MOS gateway to an Omneon MediaDeck integrated with Sony’s HDXchange.  IBIS, Sony and Omneon have worked together to deliver a workflow that offers the advantages of their more complex product offerings at a cost-effective level.

To achieve the workflow being demonstrated at IBC, IBIS iMove will be used as a ‘background task’ application to provide an automatic mechanism for moving digital video and audio files between Sony’s HDXchange Export Engine and the Omneon MediaDeck.  iMove can work with any device that supports standard FTP protocols plus most of the major industry specific FTP implementations.

Completing the demo on the Sony Booth (9.310), IBIS ServerPlay will be in action playing to air in single, block or looped mode, a list of clips created within the HDXchange application set.  The clips will be played to air via two ports on an Omneon MediaDeck in standard AB playout configuration, providing an extremely fast and flexible system ideally suited to a variety of on-air applications including news, sports, programme and commercial playout.

In keeping with the cost-effective theme of the joint offering, Omneon’s MediaDeck, an integrated version of the Omneon Spectrum media server, is designed specifically for broadcasters who need a cost-effective, easy-to-deploy platform for up to six channels.

Sony’s HDXchange has transformed the way companies produce and share audio visual content for a wide range of playout platforms - from conventional broadcast, tape and DVD to web, IPTV and mobile devices. HDXchange can be employed to simplify the end-to-end production process of news stories. Thanks to the central storage tool, journalists can benefit from the collaborative workspace by ingesting, browsing, annotating and cutting new storyboards simultaneously from multiple locations.

Andrew Winter, Director of Marketing for IBIS comments “The IBIS Media Management applications used in this offering represent our commitment to providing solutions across the breadth of the broadcast market.  We have always recognised the need for smaller, entry level systems which are as reliable and as intuitive as our Enterprise MAM systems. By offering a streamlined MAM offering with HDXchange, Sony’s entry level Network production system and Omneon’s MediaDeck server we feel we have a great value, readily scalable system.”
