CNBC Arabiya upgrades all IBIS applications in line with channel growth strategy
September 2008, IBC Booth 7.D10: CNBC Arabiya the region’s first and premier 24-hour business TV channel broadcasting live to the Middle East has chosen to upgrade it’s broadcast business with applications from IBIS.
As the incumbent provider of Media Management, Transmission and Channel Management applications, IBIS was chosen to launch the station in 2002/03. As audiences have grown and the station has become more successful, CNBC has looked at developing its broadcast business management workflow. In a tough competition IBIS has successfully won the business by demonstrating a commitment to CNBC over the years – notably during the complex process of migrating the broadcaster from one video server based transmission system to another.
IBIS Managing Director Mike Shaw says ‘We have always enjoyed working with the team at CNBC. It’s been a pleasure to have been part of their spectacular growth over the past six years. And working with their new CTO Haytham Dargouth, a man of vision and experience, will be very exciting. This also shows our commitment to the region – we’ve been working with local systems specialist team at Tevido on this project to good effect.’
IBIS is supplying IBIS Channel Management (iCM) – to enable CNBC to more effectively plan and schedule the channel which broadcasts from Dubai, with bureaus in Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Kuwait City, Doha, Manama, Cairo, Beirut, Singapore and London. Enhanced commercial airtime sales functionality is being provided by IBIS Partner Spot Planner. Transmission playout by IBIS Transmission Automation will move to controlling Omneon Spectrum servers in tx to deliver up to 17 hours of live business news and market coverage directly from the heart of the region’s business centres. Real-time stock prices will be displayed via the CNBC Arabiya ticker.
