IBIS further reinforces change in direction at NAB 2008
April 2008, NAB Booth SU8605 : IBIS (Integrated Broadcast Information Systems) has further reinforced its change in direction at NAB 2008, where a complete newsroom solution will showcase their hardware agnostic Media Asset Management solutions for a mixed platform newsroom on both PC and Mac, demonstrating versatile, open, interoperable MAM with a plethora of suppliers and formats.
Automation is no longer the company’s focus, as the issues of providing software management for content, news, sport, workflow, assets, archive, metadata and search processes dominate broadcast business.
Managing Director Mike Shaw says that the dominance of News and Sports News is one of the major driving factors behind this shift in emphasis. “IBIS has always been much more than an automation provider and over the last few years we have been asked to develop progressively more sophisticated tools for the management of assets and workflow processes.
“Large projects such as the huge ITN MAM installation and the redevelopment of the BBC Regional Newsrooms have been so successful that we are increasingly being recognised as experts in server manipulation and materials management.
“News, whether regional, national or Sports based, is a particularly hot topic at the moment and is an area in which we have specific expertise. In response to demand, IBIS has developed a range of solutions for News broadcasters together with the specialist tools required for Sports reportage; including rights and metadata management, live-to-air graphics, playout to air, the web and 3G, slow-mo and beyond, allowing broadcasters to maximize the assets from sports footage – whatever the sport.”
