IBIS reinforces change in direction
September 2007, IBC Stand 7.310: Integrated Broadcast Information Systems (IBIS) has reinforced its change in direction, demonstrating a plethora of content management solutions at IBC 2007.
Automation is no longer the company’s focus, as the issues of providing software management for content, news, sport, workflow, assets, archive, metadata and search processes dominate broadcast business.
Managing Director Mike Shaw advocates that the dominance of News and Sports News is one of the major driving factors behind this shift in emphasis. “IBIS has always been much more than an automation provider and over the last couple of years we have been asked to develop progressively more sophisticated tools for the management of assets and workflow processes.
“Large projects such as the huge ITN MAM installation and the redevelopment of the BBC Regional Newsrooms have been so successful that we are increasingly being recognised as experts in server manipulation and materials management through our established suite of content management applications.
“Sports News is a particularly hot topic at the moment and is an area in which we have specific expertise. Specialist tools are required for Sports reportage; including rights and metadata management, live-to-air graphics, playout to air, the web and 3G, slow-mo and beyond. As a result, IBIS is developing a dedicated sports system encompassing the tools broadcasters need to maximize the assets from sports footage - whatever the sport.”
