IBIS contracts with ESPN
April 2004, NAB Booth SU6766: IBIS has received orders to the value of £250,000 from ESPN
The first is for a SprinTx Newsroom automation system to be installed at a pilot project at ESPN headquarters in Bristol Connecticut, USA. The SprinTx system, which is specially designed for the news and sports environment, comprises video server management applications, ingest and acquisition tools, plus IBIS editing, media management and playout applications running with a MOS gateway.
The second order has been placed by the ESPN Desportes Channel, a new Spanish sports channel, which has launched 24-hour-a-day programming using AP's ENPS news production system. ESPN Desportes plans to broadcast more than 200 live events in its first year, including the National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball, National Football League, UEFA Champions League, Wimbledon and the French Open.
The order from ESPN is for a number of IBIS process management tools to work in a multiple video server environment. The applications will intuitively track the acquisition of sports material and the progression of those video clips throughout the editing and workflow process. Key to this workflow management are IBIS ServerLoad and IBIS ServerBase, both of which are fundamental components of the award winning LiveTx broadcast automation and centralization solution.
